30 dec 2004: New kittens
Sophie has adopted two
homeless kittens.
Sophie, 25, discovered the unwanted kittens at the Mayhew Animal Home in
London and has called the ten-week old brother and sister "Kenickie" and "Rizzo"
after characters in Grease.
"I had cats around me all my life and now I'm settled with a home of my own I
really wanted some in the house" she says. "I can't help wondering what sort
of life they'd have had if they hadn't been rescued."
23 Dec 2004: Merry Christmas from Sophie
Her official website caught up with Sophie as the year draws to a close and she asked us
to pass on this message...
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!
Hope you're having a fabulous festive time and looking forward to an even better
'05. It's been a fantastic year for me and to be here at the end of it with
Sonny is simply amazing - I'm truly enjoying every day.
Looking forward to seeing more of you all next year and can't wait to showcase album 3 -
it is really lovely to see you all getting so excited about it. It's come a lot further on since I last dropped you a line and I hope you think it will be worth
the wait. Here's to '05! Sx
17 Dec 2004: Sophie talks about third album
Sophie told her official
website that she’s hoping to have the bulk of her next album done by Christmas and
should be recording it by March.
She says: ‘There are definitely a
couple of things that I’m excited about but I don’t feel like I’ve crossed over
a threshold where I feel like the album’s really taking shape yet. I’ve got
about a third of it down.'
There’s a long process before Sophie comes up
with the final songs for the album: ‘Sometimes you have a feeling that a track
has got real potential. Other times I may be humming and penning lyrics down
which is usually a good sign.’
17 Nov 2004: Sophie speaks more about third album
Sophie told her official website that she’s just set up a small studio in her house and is enjoying
learning how to use the equipment.
She says: 'I have just about worked out how to use my bits in the studio. I
used to use a little Casio keyboard and dictaphone which didn't sound great -
not surprisingly - so now it's brilliant to have something at home which saves
on booking studio time and also gives you a place to immediately record any ideas - however sketchy.'
How much time is she putting in at the moment? 'About three or four days a
week, but that’s not all at home. Sometimes I’m out doing stuff with other
people - a real mixture of people I’ve worked with before and some new faces.'
10 Nov 2004: Sophie confirms wedding
Sophie said on the forum:
"howdy guys and gals yes, richard and I are getting married. He proposed while we were on a recent
trip to Barcelona. It was very romantic. I really appreciate your wellwishing
and we are planning to have a small wedding early next year. I am busy trying to
find an amazing dress! Meanwhile I am still hard at work writing album 3. 2005 is set to be a big year
for me, in more ways than one. Sx"
09 Nov 2004: Sophie and Richard to marry
Source: the sun
SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR is to marry boyfriend Richard Jones after the romantic
session guitarist got down on one knee to pop the question.
Sophie plans
to put her career on the back burner her so they can have a huge family.
A
pal of the couple told me: “It’s great news and they are really happy. They
can’t wait to tell everyone. They haven’t set an exact date but they are
looking at next summer. "It will be a big ceremony with all their close
friends and family invited. Everyone is very happy for them and can’t wait
to have a drink to celebrate."
Recently Sophie has been concentrating on
bringing up six-month-old Sonny after difficult times. He was born two
months early by emergency caesarean section after Sophie went for a routine
hospital check-up and was found to have the lifethreatening condition
pre-eclampsia. Then last month Sonny was rushed to hospital with meningitis.
Sophie and Richard kept a five-day vigil by the baby’s bed while he recovered.
The pair met last year when Richard was playing in Sophie’s band during a tour.
With the wedding just months away they are busy preparing for the big day.
Sophie’s mum, ex-Blue Peter presenter JANET ELLIS had better get cracking on
her hat made from sticky-backed plastic and a washing-up bottle.
06 Nov 2004: Sophie answers on the forum
"hello to all of you i am
so proud of having such an active site. it is really lovely for me to see you
all getting so excited about album 3 - as am i. i can't really be sure as to
the sound of this album as the producer element is the last thing chosen but i
can say i am about half way through writing and i am genuinely happy with what
i'm up to. this album has got to be fabulous so i'm really trying to be patient
and do the best stuff ever. i hope you'll think it's worth the wait! in general
the songs are a mix of the last two albums plus something new influenced by what
else is in my life and what i've been listening to. sorry to be so vague but
it's always tricky to articulate sound. anyhow, not too long before you'll be
able to judge for yourself... next year for sure. happy fireworks, Sx"
04 Oct 2004: 'Tree For All' campaign
A tree for
every child under 16 is music to Sophie Ellis Bextor
A call by a woodland charity to reconnect children with nature has received the
backing of chart topper Sophie Ellis Bextor. Sophie, who gave birth to baby Sonny five months ago, is supporting Tree For All, the Woodland Trust’s campaign
to plant 12 million native trees – one for every child under 16 in the UK.
The Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, believes
that every child should have the chance to plant trees. Over the next five years
one million children will take part in Tree For All - the biggest tree-planting
project designed to inspire a whole new generation of children with a love of
nature and a determination to act on its behalf.
Sophie says: "Tree For All is an inspirational campaign. It teaches children
that they need to nurture living things and help make them grow. Support the
Woodland Trust and help give children the chance to rediscover the beauty of the natural world - wherever they live."
24 Sep 2004: Sophie talks about the third album
Sophie tells her official website how work on album number 3 is coming
along. Sophie explained that she has recently started writing songs in the small studio she has set up in her new house.
She says: ‘I record loads of songs as I go along, but I don’t analyse them. If you don’t do that, the album seems to get a shape before you
even know what’s happening. I’ve got around four songs that are done but I can’t say whether they will be on the album.’
Can we expect an album of ballads since she had Sonny? ‘I wouldn’t mind doing some more upbeat stuff. However, I’ve never been strict about
staying in one genre - I’m like a kid in a sweet shop with music.’
There are other exciting things on the horizon for Sophie too: ‘I would
like to work with some other people on the album. There have been a few names thrown around but it’s a bit early to say. Also, I’ll definitely
be touring when it’s released - maybe summer next year.'
22 Sep 2004: Sophie's baby in meningitis hell
Star tells of battle against
fatal brain bug
SINGER Sophie Ellis Bextor's baby son had to be rushed to hospital after contracting the deadly
brain bug meningitis.
Distraught Sophie, 25, and boyfriend Richard Jones kept a constant vigil at five-month-old
Sonny's bedside at London's Chelsea and Westminster hospital as he battled the killer disease. The tot had been struck by the more serious bacterial meningitis, which acts with frightening
speed and can lead to blood-poisoning, but Sophie's speedy actions saved her little boy's life. He is due to finish a course of
antibiotics today and has made a full recovery. Last night, a relieved Sophie said: "It was a frightening experience, but Sonny is back to his
usual happy self."
A close friend of the star said: "Because Sonny was born two months premature, Sophie is
ultra-cautious about his health. She took him to hospital for a check-up because she thought he was looking pale and unwell. Fortunately, it was caught very early on. They are so grateful."
Last night, the singer's mum, former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis, 48, urged other parents to keep a lookout for warning
signs. There are 3,000 reported cases of meningitis in the UK each year and it kills one in 10 victims. The disease is caused when bacteria or a virus causes the lining around the brain to swell. In babies, tell-tale signs include a high temperature, fever, tiredness, lethargy and vomiting. Janet said: "It could have been very serious if Sophie hadn't acted when she did."
Sophie gave birth in April - two months early - by emergency caesarean section. She had been
visiting hospital for a routine check-up when staff discovered she had the life-threatening
condition pre-eclampsia. Sonny weighed just 4lb 13oz and spent weeks in intensive care.
Earlier this month, Sophie - whose hits include the No1 single Groovejet
(If This Ain't Love), Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor - said: "It was touch and go
and really frightening - I could have died." Sophie became pregnant by new love Richard just two months after splitting from Andy Boyd,
her boyfriend of six years. The young family now share a £1.2million home in Notting Hill, West London.

Some days ago, I posted on her official forum to send visitors a song Daniel
Mastroberti made for Sonny, when he was born, Another Day for Sonny, and
Sophie answered: (If you want to read the post, click here)
